Support Services

Most R&D project require a support component. Unforseen taps can be a nightmare leading to increased costs for all parties. A good plan is required to manage a products lifecycle but can be very difficult to establish until devices are trialed. My undertaking is to work with cutomers to establish a way forward in this mine field. Customers are encouraged to create a chief technology officers role to oversee all aspects of the products lifecycle. Risk management principles must be applied to ensure risk factors are mitigated.

I am very familiar with good project management principles and have access to one of New Zealands leadig freelance project managers. These services are not cheap however well worth it. Customers are encouraged to avail themselves with these services to upgrade their own skills in this area. In the long run the extra effort to ensure you can do it for yourself is well worth it in overall cost savings.

Business Advice

Although I have been managing my own business for many years I still seek advice from others, specially in the area of small business start ups. I work on the principle that two heads are better than one with the caveat that often I already know what the correct advice should be. Customers can benefit from my many years of experience and the contacts I have in the business world. The old adage, it is not what you know but who you know, that rings true.

Investment

If projects pass the litmus test I am always willing to invest my time and to a certain extent money in a project. I weigh up the risk factors and expect a fair share as a stake holder in return. This means I have skin in the game and makes ongoing support less troublesome in terms of cost. Seed funding and investment, is of course, a challenge all start up business have to address. Having been through an accelerator program I am very aware of these challenges. I always want to see projects I undertake succeed therefor my services often extend way past the project finish date.

Web Support Services

IoT projects require a web development component. To ensure a system works correctly I develop the web back end myself. I do not do web site design as this aspect of development is best handled by specialists. Customers are offered several options in this field. Some are more cost effective than others. A general rule of thumb is to look for a New Zealand company to design a web site graphic theme. I am experienced with several content management solutions, there advantages and pitfalls. I can then translate this theme to a working web site incorperating the back end system I design. I use a very skinny web framework (F3) that is easy to understand and translate to different CMS platforms.
